Bella Cupcake: Summer Day Look Challenge

This is a look that I cooked up for Gee's summer day look challenge. The irony is that not only did it rain today, we also had some thunderstorms and windstorms in the area. Thank you, Southern California, for unpredictable weather and ridiculous heat waves.

Anyway, summer to me always means a tan and glow. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost my ability to tan. I used to be really dark when I was a kid, but since the invention of spray sunscreen (yes, I'm that lazy haha), I've taken to protect myself more when I'm out in the sun. But, that doesn't mean you can't fake it! :D

Summer also brings to mind melting makeup, and lots of sweat. So for that reason, I chose to go with a tinted moisturizer, and mixed it with strobe cream to get some of that glow look. Sadly, it ended up being a bit more oily than glowy by the end of the day because strobe cream + oily skin does not mix.

Then I decided to change it up by adding MAC Girl About Town lipstick. It's a gorgeous fuschia pink, and if you want to go more daring, you should try layering Pink Poodle lipglass over it! It's kind of in-your-face-bam, but I personally think that it's a very flattering color on almost everybody.

Don't forget - Neo Sci-fi is already out in pro stores, and is coming to counters/freestanding sometime next week (25th?). I managed to see it yesterday when I was at the pro store, and it's a nice collection. Not the most exciting in terms of color selection (although the lip items are to die for!), but it's a great summery/earthy collection. I had swatches on my hand, but the MA decided to be helpful and wiped it off for me, lol. I'll post a more extensive review tomorrow, but in the meantime, if you're dying for swatches, Christine has great ones!

Very summery/bronzey! :) I like it! :D That second lippie is GORGEOUS!I LURVE it. :)

And you're right, the weather here in so-cal is ridiculous. Last week we had heat waves and now it's raining with thunderstorms. Sheesh. I swear, global warming is NOT good. I always think of global warming when the weather gets all funky. But oddly enough, I prefer the cold and rainy weather lately. I HATE HATE HATE hot weather... I get so irritable when it's hot. LOL. :P

Yay for entering!!! I'm trying to stay mum on the comments for judging sake, hehe.

I've definitely been lemming Girl About Town lately! Looks gorgeous on you, Emilee! Btw, thx to your notice, I got those Indelible gel liners and creme shadows on sale! Thanks babe!

I'm in SoCal too but no thunderstorms for me. Are you in the Inland Empire? I'm around the Fountain Valley area. I know, the weather has been so freaking unpredictable lately! It was cold on Monday and then by Friday and it was freaking hot last week. Now it's back to the chilly weather. -_-" I much prefer that over the heat waves though. Melting makeup makes me so damn blotchy!

p.s. can't wait until lipstick jungle get back in the fall for another season!! I think Kirby (yeah, definitely ridiculous name!) deserves more screen time simply b/c he's such an eye candy!! lol...

Yah.. so cal weather is kinda odd isn't it? It was nearly 100 not to long ago and now it's been gloomy O.o

Christiana: Thanks hun! You should definitely check it out; I think Girl About Town would look gorgeous on you.

Um, I don't like this weather. LOL. People keep saying how nice it is that it's cool etc., but I'm also missing my sunshine. :(

Gee: Hehe, that's okay! I'm going to wait anxiously until the 30th. :P

Nikki: Thanks! :)

Fabu-less: Thanks! Not quite bronzey as this is as dark as I get, but I tried, lol.

Nywele: Aww, that's too bad! I actually got Style Minx from Heatherette, but haven't actually used it yet. :X I keep forgetting that I have it, and I have so many fuschia/pink lipglosses as it is.

Angie: No problem, glad you were able to take advantage of the sale! What did you end up getting?

Yep, I'm in the Inland empire. :) I'm still not too happy with the weather, but at least it's stopped raining for now!

Are there seriously only 7 episodes these season for Lipstick Jungle? Argh. I finished the last 4 episodes in a day, and was waiting for a new episode. Boo!

Xuanie: Thanks hun! The only time I feel okay with wearing bright lips is when I go to MAC, lol. I figure that the MAs are probably wearing brighter lips than I am, so at least I won't stand out. :P

My eyebrows are a result of years of trauma, lol. It took me forever to learn how to shape my eyebrows, and now I can't live without defining them!

Mayaari: Thanks hun. :) The liner wasn't intentional; the flower was the only thing "summery" I had lying around. Thanks for the soap reviews, by the way! I'm really itching to make a huge order, but I know I should wait until I use up all the bath stuff I have already.

Nic: Your Lancome lipstick reminded me to bust out my pink ones. I actually picked up a few more Lancome lipsticks this weekend because of your post. :P

Shayna: Yep, I got my haul! I have it all swatched, I just need to label everything. Thanks hun. :)

Erica: Thanks! I feel like I should be relaxing on the beach instead of being stuck indoors working 9-5, lol.

Kaye:

Ahleessa: Hi! I'm not quite sure what you mean, but the eyeliner is a gel. It's a bit "dry" in terms of gel eyeliners (aka it's not as fluid-y as MAC fluidliners), but it's still pretty easy to apply.

Honeybee: Thanks like whoa! :P I was kind of disappointed because I was expecting it to be a duochrome teal kind of thing, but it just kind of turned out to be a teal color, which really isn't anything unique. :\

(g)ez: I'm all spent for the next year, lol. I'll wait till your review! At least with a positive review, I can justify buying it, hehe.

Hey hun! :) Well, my brush bristles are brown and yellow/orange and I haven't had any problems when I wash them. BUT I don't have any white bristle brushes so I'm not sure how they would hold up to those color bristles. :P

HmmMmm... my favorite mineral makeup brand for pigments?! I guess I can make a guess. I would have to say TSS for the shimmery pigments and Simply Naturals for their matte pigments. ;) They're also both some of the more least expensive brands too, but they both have some of the largest color selections with some unique shades. But you know, Simply Naturals just buys their pigments in bulk from TKB Trading and resells them. TKB Trading is awesome, you just have to be careful to read which ones are eye safe and which ones aren't. LOLOL. :) Besides that it's cool, you get the BEST bang for your buck at TKB Trading because it's $1.50 per sample baggie and the sample baggie comes with 1 TABLESPOON of product, the only down side is you need your own jars... but you have alot of those! ;) haha. But The She Space doesn't repackage and sell pre-made pigments like Simply Naturals, they actually formulate all of their own original shades, which is why I still keep them in my top faves. ;)

I could go on and on. LOL. If you have anymore questions love, feel free to e-mail me! :D

the dewy look is in but sometimes I do look oily! I take pics and I know its cause my makeup but other ppl might think its oiliness! So I'm like, "should I quit doing the glowy look?" LOL but I like it so I'll just keep doing it!

This makeup looks great on you. I like the side swept bangs and the flower. Your look definitely makes me feel it's time for vacation! I'm eyeing that Girl About Town! I missed Hollywood Nights and this is the closest dupe, it's also my favorite mac l/s formula. However for this look, I like the first lip combo. Has that summery feel to it.

I like the green liner, makes the look pop. You can definitely pull off bold lip colors. I look way too done up when I wear bold lippies. I used to be pretty dark when I was younger, but over the years, it faded :( Gotta love bronzers!

Definately a summery feel , i love this look on you, simply gorgeous, didn't know the coral glow was such a lovely colour :)
